Celtic: Ronny Deila reckons Inter win could lead to Euro glory

Celtic manager Ronny Deila hailed the club's fans after the 3-3 Europa League draw with Inter Milan

Ronny Deila insists, if his Celtic side can beat Inter Milan next week, they can beat anyone in the Europa League.

The manager watched his players come back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to draw 3-3 with the Italians at Celtic Park on Thursday.

And Deila says, if his charges finish the job in Thursday's second leg in Milan, they will fear no team.

"If we can beat Inter Milan and go through then, in my mind, we can beat everybody," the Norwegian said.

"I have belief we can do it. It's going to be tough and we know we have to be at our best, but we are going forward all the time now and we showed ourselves and everybody else that we can cope at this level - and that gives us a lot of confidence.

"If we get a goal over there then things can happen."

The manager admits his side will have to be better defensively if they are to get past Roberto Mancini's outfit next week but said the most positive aspect of Thursday's game was "that we can keep the ball and play against a good team, create chances and score three goals".

"If we'd met Inter six months ago, we wouldn't have a chance, so I think we're going in the right way," said Deila. "We also showed we had the fitness to go for 90 minutes.

"We have to look to the goals we conceded and work with that. We have to be really good defensively in Italy and we know we're going to get chances."

Deila's side fell two behind after just 13 minutes against Inter but drew level thanks to two quick-fire goals.

An error from goalkeeper Craig Gordon allowed the Italians to take the lead again, but John Guidetti's late strike earned Celtic a draw.

The manager felt the home fans made a major difference.

"The supporters here are the best in the world," he claimed, "I have never seen such an atmosphere and I've been to quite a lot of stadiums - and big games.

"Yesterday has blown us away and it helped us, especially when you stand behind your team when you're 2-0 down.

"When Craig made a mistake, they supported him and that means so much - then he made good saves towards the end of the match.

"That's what the club is about, the supporters."
