Guernsey FC 'keeper Chris Tardif 'will not retire this summer'

Chris Tardif has played 29 times for Guernsey this season and has been ever-present since 20 December

Guernsey FC goalkeeper Chris Tardif will not retire this summer, according to assistant manager Colin Fallaize.

The 35-year-old former Portsmouth and Oxford United keeper has been first-choice for his home island side since their formation in 2011.

He considered quitting football two years ago, but stayed on and helped the club reach the Isthmian League.

"I have no reason to think that Chris Tardif won't be between the posts next season," Fallaize told BBC Guernsey.

"Chris is enjoying his football. He's looking forward to the Island Games as well, so he's got plenty of football to look forward to."

Ninth-placed Guernsey have Tardif in their squad for a midweek away match for the first time since September, as they travel Three Bridges, who are 10th.

But the Green Lions have been forced to make five changes to the squad that beat Hastings United 1-0.

Record goalscorer Ross Allen misses the game after struggling with his fitness following a long-term knee injury, while Kieran Mahon and Glyn Dyer are unavailable due to work commitments.

Tom Strawbridge is set to become a father imminently so cannot travel, while Tom De La Mare is away.

Jamie Dodd returns, as do Simon Geall and Liam Mahon, while Miles Pengelley is involved with the first team for the first time since October,.
