Guernsey would have to turn around an eight-point deficit, with no games in hand, if they are to reach the play-offs

Guernsey FC face a "really tough task" to make the Isthmian League Division One South play-offs after their 2-0 loss at home by Faversham Town.

Second-half goals from Dean Grant and Wayne Wilson consigned Guernsey to their second straight defeat.

The Green Lions had previously taken 27 points from a possible 36 to get back in contention after a poor run of form.

"There's 27 points to play for, but it makes it a really tough task," manager Tony Vance said of the play-offs.

"The teams in these play-off positions are in pole position and have been all season," he added to BBC Guernsey.

Guernsey made the play-offs last season, losing out in the semi-finals, but a combination of injuries to key players and a loss of form between September and Christmas has seen the Green Lions in mid-table for much of the campaign.

They are currently ninth in the division, eight points off fifth-placed Whyteleafe, who sit in the final play-off spot.
