Swansea City want to end season on a high, says Jack Cork

Midfielder Jack Cork believes a positive end to the Premier League campaign will put Swansea City in a good position ahead of next season.

Cork, 25, scored his first goal for the club in the 3-2 win at Newcastle United on Saturday.

The win saw eighth in the table Swansea break their Premier League points record tally and Cork says the aim is to finish the season on high.

"A top eight finish is what we're looking to achieve." Cork said.

"We don't want to peter out the season and finish on a flat note and have all summer to think about it.

"We don't want to start next season slowly so for us to finish on a high and to have that in mind over the off season and for the start of pre-season would be good for us.

Eighth-placed Swansea are three points above ninth-placed Stoke City, who they face at home on Saturday 2 May.

The Welsh club's highest-ever finish in the Premier League is ninth, in season 2012-2013.

They have already achieved their highest ever number of points in the Premier League, with four games to go, in Garry Monk's first full season as a manager.

Cork, who joined Swansea from Southampton in January, says the former club captain has adapted well to his new role at the club.

"You can tell how much it means to him," Cork added.

"He's so passionate and the lads have taken to him brilliantly.

"It's never easy when you come in from being a player. You've got to change from knowing the players as your friends and your team-mates to being the manager.

"He's adapted perfectly and putting his own mark on the football club."
