Leeds United have held talks with former Brentford and Wigan Athletic boss Uwe Rosler.

Current head coach Neil Redfearn is out of contract this summer and seems set to leave after chairman Massimo Cellino called him "a baby" and "weak"., external

Rosler has been out of work since being sacked by the Latics in November.

The 46-year-old led Wigan, who were relegated to League One after he left, to the Championship play-offs and an FA Cup semi-final in 2013-14.

An announcement could be made on Wednesday.

Cellino said last week that he still had not decided who he wanted as head coach next season but it is understood the Italian is yet to speak to Redfearn since returning from his ban earlier this month.

He said: "Is Neil the best coach for the club next season? I am asking myself this every day.

"I have to find the right coach for this club. We have an option for Neil to be here next season."

Redfearn was the club's third head coach of the season after Cellino sacked both Dave Hockaday and Darko Milanic.

Leeds finished 15th in the Championship last season.
