Wales manager Chris Coleman says his squad will be at peak fitness against Belgium on 12 June, despite the Euro 2016 qualifier coming after the end of the domestic season.
Some players from Championship clubs will have been without a competitive game for more than five weeks.
But Coleman says his players will be ready to face the Group B leaders Belgium at Cardiff City Stadium.
"Our lads have known for a long time this game is going to arrive," he said.
"They've had programmes in terms of the physical work they need to be doing.
"So it's not when they turn up with us we're using the first week to get them physically right, they need to be physically right from day one.
"Most of our work will be tactical work... so I don't expect anyone to turn up on that first day not being physically where they should be.
"More fool them if they do, because we can't play against Belgium not being 100% fit.
"We've got to go beyond to go and get a result and just because the game's in the middle of June... come what may on the 12th there will be no excuses."
Belgium are top of Group B with 11 points from five games, one place ahead of Wales on goal difference only.
A win over Belgium will put Wales in a great position to reach their first major finals since 1958 and Coleman said the fixture has been more than a year in the planning.
"We've known this game is coming for a long time, hence we chose the friendly against Holland this time last year," said the Wales boss.
"People said to me not to play that game because your lads will be finished [for the season].
"Our objective is to play tournament football and that means you're going to be playing in the summer.
"So we took the Holland game and it was beneficial. We lost but at least we had that time of the year where we were preparing against a good team, a tough team, a top team.
"Now we're playing for points."
