Stevenage: Teddy Sheringham makes Mark Hughes first signing

Hughes made 42 appearances for Morecambe in League Two last season

New Stevenage manager Teddy Sheringham has made former Morecambe captain Mark Hughes his first signing.

The 28-year old centre-back arrives at the Lamex Stadium after being released by the Shrimps, for whom he made 89 appearances during a two-year spell.

Hughes began his career at Everton, and has also featured for Northampton, Walsall, Bury and Accrington.

He also spent a year with North Queensland Fury in the Australian A-League.
