Peter Clarke: Bury sign former Blackpool defender

Peter Clarke made 41 appearances in all competitions for Blackpool in the 2014-15 season

Bury have signed ex-Blackpool captain Peter Clarke on a two-year deal.

The 33-year-old centre-back, who joined the Seasiders last July, was one of 17 to be released by the club last month.

Clarke began his career as a trainee at Everton and later made 234 appearances for Huddersfield Town between 2009 and 2014.

"Peter is a natural-born leader and organiser; a football man of stature and standing in the game," manager David Flitcroft told the club website.

"With his experience, knowledge and understanding of playing at higher levels, it was important to capture his services and add him to the group."
