United States coach Jurgen Klinsmann said his team experienced a "huge learning curve" after they scored twice in the last two minutes of normal time to win 4-3 away to the Netherlands.
An inexperienced US side had trailed 3-1 with 20 minutes to go and 3-2 with a minute of normal time remaining.
"For all these youngsters, this is what they need to smell," Klinsmann added. "This is what they need to see."

Friday's game in Amsterdam was level at the break after a Gyasi Vlades strike for the United States cancelled out a Klaas-Jan Huntelaar header.
Huntelaar scored from another header just after the restart and then Manchester United-bound Memphis Depay extended the Netherlands' lead before John Anthony Brooks set up a thrilling finale, slotting home after a swift counter-attack.
Danny Williams equalised in the last minute with an impressive strike from outside the box and then, after Luuk de Jong hit the post for the Netherlands, substitute Bobby Wood turned in a shock winner for the United States.
Klinsmann said: "When you come to Europe it's a far more open game because they go at you. The first four to five games in the Gold Cup, teams will play very defensively, and we will need to find other ways to score goals."
