Newly-promoted League Two side Bristol Rovers have re-signed midfielder Chris Lines after his Port Vale contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Lines made 31 appearances for the Valiants last season, but he was loaned out to Darrell Clarke's side in March.

The 29-year-old played in 190 games for the Pirates after graduating from the club's academy, before signing for Sheffield Wednesday in 2011.

"Everyone knows I have always been a Bristol Rovers supporter," he said.

"I am so pleased to have this opportunity to play for the club again in the Football League," he told the Rovers website., external

Manager Clarke said: "He is an experienced player who knows the club well and I am delighted that he has returned to us on a permanent basis."
