Derry City have signed former St Patrick's Athletic striker Mark Quigley until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old Dubliner was a free agent after failing to secure a club because of a back problem.

Quigley, who was the PFAI Player of the Year in 2012, has been sidelined since last September.

"There were other clubs interested, but the manager showed so much desire to get me and that was what made me sign," Quigley told the club website.

He added: "He really wanted me whereas other clubs were just sniffing about, but when Peter Hutton showed the desire to get me there was only one place I was going to come."

Candystripes boss Hutton is happy to bring in Quigley with his team scoring just 12 goals in 18 league games this season.

"We're delighted to bring Mark on board. He's a vastly experienced campaigner and has had a lot of success in his career," he said.

Derry lie third from bottom in the Premier Division ahead of Saturday night's away game against Bray Wanderers.
