Leon Britton says Swansea City's "strongest squad" can repeat their 2013 League Cup success.

Boss Garry Monk changed his entire starting XI before seeing off League Two York 3-0 to earn a third-round tie at Championship club Hull City.

He says League Cup games give fringe players chances to shine.

"We'll have a point to prove. Every game we play in this [Cup], we'll want to do very well," said midfielder Britton.

Swansea beat Bradford 5-0 to win the competition under Monk's predecessor Michael Laudrup.

"It's the strongest squad we've got since I've been at the club," said Britton.

"To make 11 changes like we did… we've still got some very, very good players in that team tonight so we enjoyed that Cup run. It was fantastic for the club.

"Everyone involved in it loved every second of it.

"It gives us an opportunity - the lads who haven't been getting the minutes in the Premier League - to show the manager what we can do.

Britton recently committed his immediate future to the club despite having seen his appearances diminish in recent seasons.

He is in his second spell at the club and has played in all the top four divisions since 2002 but made only nine appearances last season.

Britton helped Swansea avoid relegation from the Football League and rise up the divisions to become a top-eight club in the Premier League.

In 2010 he left for Sheffield United but returned to Swansea just months later, playing almost 500 games for the club during his two spells.

"I'm delighted to be staying and it's great to be back out on the pitch," added Britton.

"I'm happy to fight and train hard and see where it takes me."
