Scottish League Cup: Celtic to meet Raith Rovers
- Published
Trophy holders Celtic are at home to Raith Rovers in the third round of the Scottish League Cup.
The seeded draw at Hampden produced one all-Premiership tie, with Kilmarnock meeting Hearts at Rugby Park.
Championship leaders Rangers host St Johnstone and Aberdeen travel to meet Hibernian at Easter Road.
Dundee United host Dunfermline, Motherwell go to Morton, Ross County meet Falkirk and Livingston will entertain Inverness Caley Thistle.
Rovers' finest moment came in this tournament when they beat Celtic in the 1994 final after a penalty shoot-out.
As a result, the Kirkcaldy club went on to meet Bayern Munich in the following season's Uefa Cup. However, the competition no longer yields a European place.
Rangers v St Johnstone is also a repeat of a former final, with the Glasgow side prevailing in season 1998-99.
Saints lost 1-0 at Ibrox at the quarter-final stage last season.
Aberdeen, who won the tournament for a sixth time in March 2014, beat Hibs in the 1985-86 final at Hampden.
Hearts, who top the Premiership after a run of five wins from five games, have not picked up the trophy since 1962-63, with Kilmarnock the beaten finalists on that occasion.
Scottish League Cup third round draw:
Kilmarnock v Hearts
Livingston v Inverness CT
Ross County v Falkirk
Rangers v St Johnstone
Celtic v Raith Rovers
Morton v Motherwell
Dundee United v Dunfermline Athletic
Hibernian v Aberdeen
The ties are scheduled for 22/23 September.
