AFC Telford United have reappointed Rob Smith as Bucks manager following Sunday's sacking of Steve Kittrick.

Smith returns to the club who sacked him and assistant Larry Chambers, external after their third failure to win promotion from Blue Square North in April 2010.

Smith and Chambers now come back in at the same level following the Shropshire club's relegation in April from the non-league top flight under Kittrick.

Telford are bottom of National League North after a poor start to the season.

Telford bosses: From Rob Smith... to Rob Smith

Feb 2006-Apr 2010: Rob Smith (sacked after not making play-offs)

May 2010-Jan 2013: Andy Sinton sacked (after two and half years)

Feb 2013: Mark Cooper resigns to move to Swindon (five games)

March 2013: Graham Hyde resigns (after just two matches)

March-April 2013: John Psaras not re-engaged (nine games)

May 2013-Dec 2014: Liam Watson sacked (promotion in first season)

Dec 2014-Aug 2015: Steve Kittrick sacked (7 wins in 26 league games)

Aug 2015: Rob Smith (with Larry Chambers as assistant manager)

It was their haul of just one point - and one goal - from the first five games which cost 57-year-old Yorkshire businessman Kittrick his job.

Smith and Chambers, who have left National League North rivals Hednesford Town to return to Telford, first arrived at the Bucks Head in February 2006 - two thirds of the way through the Bucks' second season after reforming.

They helped the club avoid relegation from the Unibond Premier in their first season, led them up the following year, then twice went close to promotion, losing in the play-off semi-finals in 2008, losing to Gateshead in the final in 2009 and missing out on the play-offs a year later.

Their first game back in charge will be at Gloucester City this Saturday (29 August, 15:00 BST).

Smith and Chambers are due back at Hednesford, where they have spent the last five years, on Boxing Day.
