Daryl: What do English teams need to do to ensure success this year?

Phil McNulty: In simple terms, be a lot better than they were last year. Arsenal must buy a quality striker to pose more of a threat, Chelsea must find some of that old authority that has been missing this season while Manchester City must find a way to feel that they belong in the Champions League.

Manchester United also need more quality up front or they will lose to one of the better sides. And as I have said before - I don't see any of them as winners.

Southampton have made three changes to their starting line-up for the second leg of their Europa League play-off at Danish champions FC Midtjylland.

Midfielder Victor Wanyama, linked with a move away from St Mary's, did not travel because of a stomach infection.

Forward Sadio Mane, a target for Manchester United, starts on the bench after picking up a knock in last Sunday's goalless draw with Watford.

Cuco Martina, James Ward-Prowse and Jay Rodriguez all start.

The tie is level at 1-1.

Southampton : Stekelenburg, Martina, Fonte, Caulker, Yoshida, Targett, Romeu, S. Davis, Ward-Prowse, Pellè, Rodriguez. Substitutes: K. Davis, Cédric, Long, Mané, Tadić, Reed, Juanmi.

Paris St-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on course to meet his former club Malmo after the two clubs were drawn in Group A.

Malmo's assistant coach Olof Persson tells Uefa.com: "It will be fun for Zlatan to come back home. It'll be fantastic for the fans to see him and the other stars. I think he will be welcomed the way he always is when he comes home – like the king of Malmo that he is."

  13. 'Man Utd and Arsenal not good enough'published at 18:50

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Fahad Khan, externalDo you see any English side winning the Champions League this season ?

Phil McNulty: In a word, Fahad, no. To expand further, on squad quality Manchester City should have the best chance but they been handed a very tough group.

I still expect them to get out of the group and with a favourable draw should progress but I think it is too much of a leap to go from where they are now to winners.

Any team managed by Jose Mourinho should never been ruled out of the Champions League and Chelsea have an in-built resilience that means they will go far but do I see them beating the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich? Not really.

And to be brutally honest Arsenal and Manchester United are simply not good enough to win the Champions League with their current squads.

  14. 'Fans will relish Moscow trip'published at 18:47

Manchester United club secretary John Alexander tells BT Sport: "I think it will suit Louis and his staff going back to the Netherlands to face PSV. That will be a challenge and one they will want to succeed in going back to their home country.

"Moscow is famous for us winning the Champions League there so I'm sure the fans will look forward to that, although it could depend on the time of year."
