Continental Cup: Chelsea, Bristol Academy and Reading go through

Chelsea Ladies are the top scorers in this season's Continental Cup, with 20 goals

Chelsea Ladies, Reading FC Women and Bristol Academy have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Continental Cup.

FA Cup winners Chelsea thrashed London Bees 8-0 to secure qualification for the knockout stages of the competition, equivalent to the men's League Cup.

Reading, the only second-tier side to progress, won 3-1 at Watford to earn their place in the last eight.

Bristol complete the line-up, as they have a better goal difference than Doncaster Rovers Belles.

The Belles won 3-2 at Women's Super League One side Sunderland, making them the only WSL 2 team to beat a top-tier club so far this season.

That result secured Doncaster third spot in Group Two but their goal difference of +1 did not match that of Reading and Bristol (+5).

That meant that Bristol went through despite their 2-0 loss to Birmingham on Saturday.

Chelsea substitute Rosella Ayane scored four second-half goals, after a Marija Banusic hat-trick, to see them finish second in Group One.

Elsewhere, 2014 winners Manchester City Women secured top spot in Group Two with a 2-0 win over Liverpool, who had also already qualified.

Group Three winners Notts County beat Yeovil Town 5-0 to maintain their 100% record, while Arsenal won 4-0 at Millwall Lionesses to finish top of Group One.

There were also wins for already-eliminated Aston Villa and Everton, who won 3-1 and 2-0 at Oxford United and Durham respectively.

The draw for the quarter-finals will be made on Tuesday.
