Ipswich Town defender Matt Clarke has signed a new contract to keep him at Portman Road until 2017, with the option of a further 12 months.

The 18-year-old is currently on loan until January at League Two Portsmouth, where he has played seven games.

Youth academy graduate Clarke broke into the Town first team last season, and has so far made five appearances.

"Playing for Portsmouth has been great for me, but I see my future at Ipswich," he told the club website., external

"My goal is to get to a standard where the gaffer feels he can put me in his team here."
