Garry Monk's Swansea City 'need to change', says Huw Jenkins

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins says "something needs to change" at the club as speculation mounts about manager Garry Monk's future.

Swansea are a point above the Premier League relegation zone having won only one of their last 11 league matches.

Monk, 36, took charge of the Swans' training session on Tuesday.

"We all feel at the club that something needs to change to get things back on a positive note as quickly as possible," said Jenkins.

"The difference between the end of August and how we find ourselves today is something we haven't experienced at Swansea before, such a big change around from where we were after beating Man United in the last game in August.

"I think it just again highlights if things are not dealt with and addressed early enough the Premier League is very unforgiving, and unless every angle and everybody's focus is 100% week in, week out, things can change very quickly."

Jenkins was speaking at Windsor Castle after receiving an OBE for services to football in Wales from the Duke of Cambridge,

The chairman refused to confirm whether Monk would be sacked, but asked if an announcement would be made on Tuesday, he said: "Not today, because I am up here."

Monk, 36, led the Swans to eighth place last season, their highest Premier League finish in his first full campaign.

But recent results have caused concern, prompting the Swansea board to consider Monk's position.
