National League leaders Cheltenham Town have signed teenage defender Cian Harries on a short-term youth loan from League One side Coventry City.

The Sky Blues have a recall option on the 18-year old, who has moved to Whaddon Road on a deal stretching to 6 February, with a view to getting first-team experience.

Harries becomes Cheltenham boss Gary Johnson's second January signing.

He has also signed Colchester United forward Dan Holman on a free transfer.

Cheltenham, who ended 2015 seven points clear at the top of the National League, had their lead trimmed when last Saturday's home game with Cheltenham was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

They travel to struggling Boreham Wood this Saturday, while nearest rivals Forest Green go to another of the more lowly sides, Guiseley.
