Adam Collin sold on Aberdeen by former Scots top-flight players

New Aberdeen goalkeeper Adam Collin says former Scottish top-flight players were among those who convinced him to move to Pittodrie.

Englishman Collin has joined the Dons on loan from Rotherham until the end of the season after Danny Ward was recalled by Liverpool.

Kirk Broadfoot, who used to play for Rangers, and several ex-Dons players have been team-mates of Collin, 31.

"It is a fantastic move for me," Collin told Aberdeen's website.

"Aberdeen are a great club. As I say I am just happy to be here and looking forward to playing some games and hopefully help Aberdeen in the league.

"I knew the pedigree of Aberdeen and the history and size of the club. I also chatted to a number of people who spoke very highly of the club and have always said to me that if I got the opportunity to come here I should.

Collin has made over 400 senior appearances

"I know Chris Maguire and Rob Milsom who were very positive about the move and said it was a tremendous opportunity for me to come up here. I have also played in the past with Kari Arnason and Lee Miller.

"I was very impressed with the manager [Derek McInnes] when I first spoke to him. He was very passionate in the way that he spoke. He sounded very keen to get me here which was a massive thing."

Subject to international clearance, the keeper could make his debut against Ross County on Sunday.

"This season has been a bit frustrating, I have just played the two games, but the season before I played 35 matches in the Championship for Rotherham and played throughout the League One campaign the season before so I have had a good time in South Yorkshire," added the former Workington and Carlise player.

"I have played a lot of games. At Carlisle I played over 150 matches for them in League One so I have a lot of experience on my side.

"Hopefully I am just getting into my best years now. I want to come here and play some games.

"A lot of managers like an experienced goalkeeper in the team and hopefully I can bring that to Aberdeen."
