Striker Juanma has returned to Hearts after weekend talks with Belgian side Waasland-Beveren fell through.

There is, however, still an outside chance of a deal being concluded for the 25-year-old Spaniard, who was the club's top scorer last season.

BBC Scotland has learned of other clubs showing an interest in the player.

The Tynecastle outfit have also turned down a bid of about £600,000 for defender Callum Paterson from English Championship club Wigan Athletic.

The right-back made his Scotland debut in May and on Monday was named in Gordon Strachan's squad for next month's World Cup qualifier away to Malta.
