Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says survival would be 'greatest achievement'

Retaining their place in Isthmian League Division One South would be Guernsey FC's greatest achievement, according to manager Tony Vance.

The Green Lions lost 3-1 at fellow strugglers Molesey on Saturday, leaving them one place above the drop-zone.

Vance has been without record scorer Ross Allen and first-choice keeper Chris Tardif since October.

"When you miss those players it's going to hurt any team - it doesn't matter if you're Chelsea or Guernsey," he said.

"We can't replace them with regards to just buying players, like they do over here [the mainland] - we've tried to replace them with what we've got."

Guernsey have seven games remaining to stave off the threat of relegation, four of them at home.

Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey: "Will it [avoiding relegation] be our greatest achievement? I think it probably would really.

"Let's not shy away from the fact that we have, in my opinion, the best goalkeeper and striker in the league, and we haven't had them all season."
