Aberystwyth Town have confirmed ex-Newport County and Yeovil goalkeeper Tony Pennock as their new manager.

Pennock joined Aberystwyth's coaching staff in April having left Hull City in January.

The 46-year-old will be assisted by Wayne Jones, who had been in charge since previous manager Matthew Bishop stepped down.

Aberystwyth, who escaped relegation from the Welsh Premier League, confirmed Bishop has left the club.

"Tony's vast experience within the game, and his relationship with Wayne and the players, made him the standout candidate," chairman Donald Kane said.

Pennock, who was previously head of youth development at Swansea City, has also managed Port Talbot Town and Wales' semi-professional side.
