Exeter City 3-0 Crewe Alexandra
- Published
League Two leaders Exeter maintained their excellent start to the season with a comfortable win over Crewe.
Crewe started the better of the two teams and George Cooper missed a great chance to open the scoring when he blazed over the bar from 10 yards.
However, Exeter went in front when Lee Holmes' corner was shot goalwards by Troy Brown, Ben Garratt made a superb save, but Jordan Tillson was on hand to convert the loose ball.
Liam McAlinden missed a great chance to double Exeter's lead when he fired straight at Garratt and the goalkeeper saved well again to deny Reuben Reid.
In the 38th minute, Exeter's pressure told as McAlinden's scuffed shot fell kindly for Jake Taylor, who smashed in at the back post.
Eddie Nolan spectacularly cleared off the line to deny Taylor an instant second, while Pierce Sweeney volleyed wide early in the second half for Exeter.
Substitute Jayden Stockley made it 3-0, heading in from Taylor's cross, before Taylor went close again.
Crewe rarely threatened as they were well and truly outclassed by Exeter, who remain undefeated in League Two so far this season.
