Hearts beat Alloa for seven-point lead in the Scottish Championship
- Published
Hearts moved seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship as they gained thrilling revenge for their League Cup defeat by Alloa Athletic.
A thundering drive from Andrew Irving and a Elliott Frear's strike into the roof of the net gave the Edinburgh side a healthy half-time lead.
Although centre-half Lucas Williamson was sent off with six minutes left, Alloa hit back through Kevin Cawley.
But Josh Ginnelly broke clear to score with keeper Neil Parry thrown up front.
It leaves Alloa without a win in five games and now only two points off the bottom after Arbroath's 2-2 draw with Queen of the South.
