Champions League: Which Premier League teams will play in Europe in 2023-24?

"Bring your passports and see you in Europe."
That was John McGinn's message to Aston Villa fans after they became the seventh English club to qualify for European competition next season.
Villa beat Brighton on the final day of the Premier League campaign to clinch seventh place and a spot in the Europa Conference League.
The Villans were 17th when Steven Gerrard was sacked on 20 October, but a remarkable turnaround under Unai Emery - including winning 10 of their final 15 league games - saw them pip Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford to the final European spot.
"These players have really followed me for the last six months. It has been demanding and we are committed," said Emery.
"Historically this is a great team, we won the European Cup a long time ago, but we can now try to improve and get an ambitious step ahead. This is the first step.
"Europe adds more matches and more difficult moments but I like that. It is very important for us."
Like McGinn, goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez - a World Cup winner with Argentina in December - also spoke to fans on the Villa Park pitch after the victory over Brighton.
"It's a great feeling for sure, from where we have come from to where we are now," he said, adding: "Let's go to Europe, baby!"
BBC Sport runs through which seven English team will be playing in European competition next season - with one more Premier League club still in with a chance of joining them.
Who finished in the Champions League places?
Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United have qualified for next season's Champions League.
Liverpool, who finished fifth in the Premier League, miss out on a place in the competition for the first time since 2016-17.
Although City could yet go on to win the Champions League, there will still be no spot for the Reds.
The only way five English teams could have qualified for the Champions League was if a Premier League club won the competition but failed to finish inside the top four.
What about the Europa League?
That means Liverpool will play in next season's Europa League, along with Brighton & Hove Albion, who finished sixth.
They both qualify because FA Cup finalists Manchester City and Manchester United have earned places in the Champions League.
Roberto de Zerbi's Seagulls will be taking part in European competition for the first time in the club's history.
How could eight English teams compete in Europe next season?
Although West Ham finished 14th in the Premier League, they still have an opportunity to play in next season's Europa League.
The Hammers face Italian side Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final in Prague on 7 June and, if they go on to win the trophy, they will earn a place in the group stage of next season's Europa League.
