Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says his side's comeback to draw 4-4 at Hanworth Villa was a "moral victory".

The point ended an eight-game losing streak and saw the Green Lions twice overcome a two-goal deficit.

Matt Loaring's 36th-minute strike made it 3-1 to the hosts at half-time before David Merris got a second for Guernsey.

Sam Merson's 68th-minute goal, made it 4-2, but Ryan-Zico Black replied two minutes later with Loaring scoring a 90th-minute penalty to level the score.

The point was Guernsey's first since their opening day win over Westfield more than two months ago, although they stay in the relegation places in Isthmian League South Central.

"Fortunately we snatched the draw, which is probably like a moral victory for the team," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"We had some young players in there and we only had 13 players today, so a great effort from them."

Vance felt it could have been even better for his side as some mistakes from goalkeeper Josh Addison allowed Hanworth to score - with Kyen Nicholas finding the net twice in the opening 29 minutes before Merson added a third after 31 minutes.

"We gave away some poor goals to be honest, and whilst they had a coupled of good opportunities at goal, all four could have been avoided," he said.

"Josh will own up to that, but it's a team game and what he probably won't look at is he made some really important saves as well at times where we could have crumbled.

"The players got that one goal back just before half-time which gave us some buoyancy, and then conceded again but, fair play to the players, they kept going, we put some subs on and fortunately they worked."
