Full-back Malone signs for Cambridge

Scott Malone began the season with Crawley Town but left the Sussex club in November

Cambridge United have signed free-agent left-back Scott Malone on a short-term deal.

The 33-year-old previously played under U's head coach Neil Harris at former clubs Millwall and Gillingham.

Malone did not sign in time for Tuesday's home game against Stevenage but could make his debut away to Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

He began his career at Wolves and has played more than 450 league games, his former clubs also including Cardiff City, Fulham Huddersfield Town and Derby County

Cambridge are 22nd in League One but have achieved back-to-back wins since Harris' return to the club last month.

They are six points from safety with 13 games left to play.
