Farsley Celtic captain Lewis Turner, who suffered a suspected cardiac arrest last week, has been discharged from hospital and is at home with his family.
The 32-year-old defender collapsed on the pitch during his side's FA Trophy match at Gateshead last Tuesday.
Turner had treatment on the pitch before being rushed to hospital after being resuscitated and the game was abandoned.
"After what has been a really tough week, I am now back at home with my family," Turner, who spent time in Leeds United's academy, posted on X., external
"I can't thank the medical staff and paramedics enough for treating me at the game. In particular Frazer Bell, Gateshead's physio, who performed CPR on me and saved my life.
"I have been overwhelmed by the support I received on the night from the players and staff from both clubs, and for all the messages and well wishes me and my family have received. We are so grateful."
Turner is in his second spell with the National League North side and has also had spells in non-league football with Chester, Harrogate, Scarborough and Matlock.
