Truro City defender Tom Harrison says he is ready to help the club climb off the bottom of the National League.

The 24-year-old has recovered from a serious knee injury he suffered in late February which needed surgery.

Having missed the National League South title win last season Harrison has spent two months of this campaign on loan at sixth-tier Chippenham Town to restore his fitness.

He returned to Truro's first team on Tuesday in their 3-0 National League Cup loss to West Ham's under-21 side.

"It's been a long road but I'm glad to be here now I'm looking up," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"Everyone goes through injuries and it's such a difficult part of football, but I'm glad to be back.

"Last season was a huge success for everyone involved. I feel like I played my part last season, obviously I missed the last few games, but obviously you do everything you can to try and be ready for the start of the season but some things you can't control."

Harrison has seen the Tinners struggle in their first season in the fifth tier.

The Cornish side have won just three of their 20 games in the National League and are seven points from safety at the foot of the table.

But he feels the club are adapting and results will improve.

"Everyone expected it to be a difficult start and it would take some time to get our feet on the ground," he added.

"But I think the boys' performances have been decent, I just think we've been a bit unlucky with results at times.

"But I think it will turn and I think the boys will start looking up the table rather than down."
