West Bromwich Albion have brought in midfielder Uros Racic on a season-long loan from Italian Serie B club Sassuolo, their eighth signing of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old 6ft 4in Serbian international scored once in 23 appearances for Sassuolo last season as they were relegated from Serie A.

After losing to Southampton in the Championship play-off semi-finals in May, Albion have taken four points from their first two games of the new campaign.

Of the seven signings made by Baggies boss Carlos Corberan prior to the start of the season, only Torbjorn Heggem has so far started a league game.

But keeper Joe Wildsmith, defenders Paddy McNair and Gianluca Frabotta midfielder Ousmane Diakite and strikers Devante Cole and the on-loan Lewis Dobbin did all play in last week's League Cup first round defeat at Fleetwood.

Racic began his career with Red Star Belgrade and then spent five years with Valencia, although he was sent out on loan three times during his time with the Spanish club.

He has been capped 12 times and was a member of Serbia's squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but missed this summer's European Championship in Germany.
