  1. CLOSE!published at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Rangers 0-0 Kilmarnock

Hamza Igamane goes ever so close with a strike that curls just over the bar.

He receives it again from Cerny after the wide attacker drives inside and holds off two Kilmarnock defenders.

A potent combination for the hosts so far between the Moroccan and the Czech.

  2. Postpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Dundee 0-0 Motherwell

First half chance of the night falls to Motherwell.

Ewan Wilson's cross is laid back by Apostolos Stamatelopoulos and comes to Lennon Miller 30 yards out.

Head down, he drives, but the ball slices high and wide.

  3. 'I understand Balogun selection'published at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Rangers 0-0 Kilmarnock

    Billy Dodds
Former Rangers striker on BBC Sportsound

Defensively there are frailties with Robin Propper, the last time they played Kilmarnock he got bullied by Kyle Vassell and taken off, so I can understand why they've gone with Leon Balogun tonight.

  4. CLOSE!published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Rangers 0-0 Kilmarnock

The ball breaks for Vaclav Cerny inside the area, he takes it towards the bye-line and looks for a team-mate.

He nudges it back to Hamza Igamane after some patient play but the forward side-foots it wide.

Having been trackside at Pittodrie I can vouch for the fact that it is a horrendous night for football in the Granite City.

A bitter wind is howling in off the North Sea, the corner flags are blowing in all sorts of different directions, and the sleet is tipping in and whirring around the old ground.

A night for keeping it on the deck - could the weather be a leveller this evening?

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

I think it's going to be a very good game of football. It'll be very difficult for Aberdeen.

Jimmy Thelin will be looking for an improvement because they will need to improve to get anything out of this game.

  7. Aberdeen must use Pittodrie 'energy'published at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Aberdeen v Celtic (20:00)

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin tells BBC Scotland: "Opportunities arise for players in the squad through the season. This is Ross [Doohan's] time.

"We play at home again, almost a full house, and we have to use the extra energy that gives. We're going to give everything today.

"We have to try to grow all the time. Nothing has changed.

"Celtic are consistent in their performance. It's good for us to compete in this game, because that's the way we want to be. No game in this league is easy, we have to take the challenge."

  10. Motherwell must cut out 'poor goals'published at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Dundee v Motherwell (15:00)

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "We need to start by eradicating the poor goals. I spoke to the players after the game at the weekend - that's five really poor goals in the last two games we've conceded.

"It's our job to show the opposition we don't have that frailty. I've not seen that weakness in our team and we can only respond to it. If I was Tony Docherty, standing in his dressing room, I'd be asking them to see if that frailty is there.

"We have to show a reaction, and not just talk about it, but see it on the pitch."

  11. Dundee prepared for Motherwell reactionpublished at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Dundee v Motherwell (15:00)

Dundee boss Tony Docherty tells BBC Scotland: "Our soul focus tonight is putting in a performance and doing as much as we can to get the better of Motherwell, who are a good team.

"It comes down to competition for places. I've got good players who are ready to come in. Three games in a week, sometimes you need to freshen up. It's just shaking it up.

"Motherwell will look for a reaction. Stuart [Kettlewell] came out and he was quite critical. We need to stand up to that reaction."

  12. McInnes wants to replicate 'almost perfect' Rangers winpublished at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Rangers v Kilmarnock (19:45)

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes wants his side to replicate their performance against Rangers when they defeated them at Rugby Park in late October.

"We're trying to kind of get as close to that kind of performance, and a lot of what we did right, against Rangers six weeks ago," he tells BBC Scotland.

"We've got to try and make sure [we] limit mistakes. Especially early on, we've got to make sure we're really pragmatic, really responsible, but brave in our approach.

"We've got to try and be that team, just as we have been against them in the past. And sometimes it pays dividends, sometimes it doesn't. Look, we've not got any divine right to expect to win here tonight, the advantages Rangers have over teams like ourselves, but we know it can be done.

"And that's what my reference to the lads was, we were almost perfect against Rangers last time out, six weeks ago."

  16. How big a loss is Mitov?published at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Aberdeen v Celtic (20:00)

It was revealed yesterday that Aberdeen goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov will be ruled out for up to six weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury.

The Bulgarian had been an ever-present in the league this term until he was was replaced by Ross Doohan at half-time of Sunday's 1-1 draw at Hearts.

Boasting a 72% save rate - the third best in the division - Mitov will be a big loss for Jimmy Thelin, but the manager has full faith in ex-Celtic keeper Doohan.

"Ross came in in the last game and did well and we are confident he is going to do a good job for us," the Swede said.

Doohan never played for Celtic during his seven years at the club - and tonight will be just his fifth game for Aberdeen since joining in summer last year.

Dimitar Mitov is out for six weeks with a hamstring injury and is replaced in goal by Ross Doohan.

Slobodan Rubezic replaces Angus MacDonald in the heart of defence and Graeme Shinnie comes in for Ante Palaversa in midfield, while Duk and Topi Keskinen both start out wide.

Finally, Kevin Nisbet leads the line, preferred to Ester Sokler.

For Celtic, Brendan Rodgers recalls several key players having rested them against Ross County on Saturday.

Nicolas Kuhn and Kyogo come into the front three, with James Forrest and Adam Idah dropped to the bench.

Reo Hatate and Auston Trusty also come into the side, with Luke McCowan and Liam Scales missing out.

  20. Clement 'excited' to see Danilo & Igamane combinepublished at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2024

    Rangers v Kilmarnock (19:45)

Rangers manager Philippe Clement says he is "excited" to see Danilo and Hamza Igamane playing together, with the former making his first league start of the season.

"He's [Danilo] played a few games already, he did some things in the pre-season but not much," Clement told BBC Scotland

"So we want to get him up to speed because he's a player with a lot of qualities against teams with a low block.

"I'm excited to see the combination now with him and Hamza [Igamane] together. It will be the first time because of the circumstances; Danilo out so long, Hamza just in the building.

"So I think it can be a really good partnership in that way against this kind of opponent."
