  1. 'Really excited for Scott' - Iraolapublished at 13:28 GMT

Aston Villa v Bournemouth (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Bournemouth

More from Andoni Iraola on Alex Scott's call-up to Thomas Tuchel's England squad: "I'm pleased for him. He has been playing very well. Everyone was really excited for him this morning. In the beginning of the season he was also good for the England Under-21s. I am also pleased for the club, for his team-mates. Everyone around the club was happy as even if it's an individual call, we fell it collectively and there is a recognition of paying for Bournemouth. If you do well you can have this reward.

"I think Alex, the two seasons with us has had three knee injuries. He hasn't had a long run of games where he could play the level he is lately. To play in the summer with England put him in a perfect place for pre-season. He arrived strong, did a good pre-season and won his place in the team. He has strong competition in those positions. I think this period without any issue has been very good for him."

  2. Full-strength Iraolapublished at 13:27 GMT

Aston Villa v Bournemouth (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

Antoine Semenyo, Tyler Adams and Alex Jimenez have all overcome fitness issues, so Iraola has the same group to select from as last week.

  4. Collins on his discussions with Wolves playerspublished at 13:23 GMT

Chelsea v Wolves (Sat, 20:00 GMT)

    Wolves

Interim boss James Collins has spoken about the conversations he has had with the Wolves players since taking temporary charge of the team:

"They have all got different opinions, but what you get is a theme running through of what they think is missing. Now, don't get me wrong, they don't want the lunatics running the asylum, but they will say what they think, and you have to take the bits from that need adding. Obviously, we'll also speak to the coaching staff, support staff - they all have an opinion and when you put all of that in the melting pot.

"And you decide you can't do everything in a week, so you try and make sure at least three or four main principles are added to their week, and that's what we've done this week."

Things are moving quickly at Wolves.

Middlesbrough have cancelled their pre-match news conference with head coach Rob Edwards, who Wolves had formally asked to speak with - a request rejected by Boro on Thursday.

Edwards was due to face the media at 13:00 GMT ahead of Boro's home game with Birmingham City on Saturday but that will now not take place.

Since replacing Michael Carrick at Boro in the summer, Edwards has led the side to third with just two defeats in their opening 14 Championship games.

  6. 'If you keep losing, you lose your job'published at 13:17 GMT

Chelsea v Wolves (Sat, 20:00 GMT)

    Wolves

OK, to those news conferences now.

Here's interim Wolves boss James Collins, who spoke to the media about former manager Vitor Pereira following his sacking on Sunday:

"Vitor and his staff were brilliant with me, they welcomed us to watch training, they welcomed us to be around it, they welcomed us into meetings, they were enthusiastic about the U21s, and get players through. I can't speak highly enough of them; they were brilliant people and good coaches.

"Sometimes in football, it is dictated by results and in the end, if you keep losing, you lose your job. They understand that, but they did their job diligently, great people, and they treated me with great respect, and I wish them well."

  10. Spurs unbeaten in 22 European home games - but why so poor in the league?published at 12:56 GMT

Tottenham's 4-0 thrashing of Copenhagen on Tuesday night means the club have now gone 22 European games unbeaten at home.

So, why can't they repeat those results in the Premier League?

In comparison, in their last 22 league games inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs have won just six times, drawing four and losing on 12 occasions.

The European unbeaten streak consists of 13 Europa League games, three Conference League games and six in the most prestigious of them all, the Champions League.

The opposition has at times been considerably easier than the Premier League elite, with Spurs beating the likes of NS Mura from Slovenia, and Pacos de Ferreira who currently compete in the Portuguese second division.

But they have also played some bigger clubs, facing Frankfurt twice, Italian giants AC Milan and Roma, and this season beating Villarreal - who currently sit third in La Liga.

From those 22 European fixtures, Spurs have scored 60 and conceded just 13, keeping a clean sheet on 13 occasions including in both of this season's Champions League ties. They have also failed to score in just one of those games.

In the league, they have scored just over half that amount with 31 goals, and conceded 34 - nearly three times as many when compared with their European record.

The difference in results might not come as that much of a surprise given their Europa League triumph in comparison with their finish in the league table last season.

However, with just one win from their opening five home league games this season, Thomas Frank will be desperately hoping they can convert some of their European success into domestic wins.

In the league, their next three league games consist of Manchester United, Fulham and Brentford respectively.

After their trip away to PSG, Frank's side face a visit from Slavia Prague before a tougher challenge against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

I think you've disproven your own point there, Mike...

It is the same problem for most teams, generally speaking, but it's very different losing nine players compared to one or two.

No matter how influential the one or two might be, you can try to work around their absence, but losing nine players from a 25-man squad is clearly going to have huge impact whatever you do.

I think all clubs should have the same issue with Afcon though, right? Sure, Sunderland will be affected terribly but Spurs have Sarr and Bissouma out, Wolves five out. In fact, only Leeds, Chelsea and Arsenal retain their entire squads.

Tottenham will be hoping to continue their good run against Manchester United when the two sides meet again tomorrow.

Spurs are on a seven-game unbeaten run against United across all competitions and have won five times during that impressive run.

It includes their Europa League final triumph Ruben Amorim's side that ended the club's 17-year-wait for a trophy.

Spurs, under Ange Postecoglou, also knocked out United from the League Cup last December while also doing the double over them in the Premier League.

And Thomas Frank would be hoping for the streak to continue on Saturday.

Arsenal are showing that if you give a decent manager time they can get a squad in place to win things. See parallels with Klopp and Fergie. If they don't win this year though it's the biggest failure in Premier League history.

Both won all three league games in October, Rich, but I guess given how long it has been since Manchester United last won three in a row, Ruben Amorim's was seen as the achievement more worth acknowledging?

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been named the Premier League manager of the month for the very first time.

United won all three of their matches in October - the first time they have done so since the Portuguese manager took charge in November 2024.

He becomes the first United manager since since Erik ten Hag in November 2023 to win the honour.

"The credit is not mine, the credit is for my players," Amorim said.

"They did really well, and our goal is to win the next one [award], because it means we win football matches and that is our goal."

Bryan Mbeumo also won the player of the month award, making it a double swoop for the Red Devils.
