Definitely he has to go to Man United. A club of pedigree and a manager who is devoted to building the club back to its former glory. He will become a legend alongside many others at United. United are still one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Let's face it, he could go to a club with champions league football and a coach who turned Isak into a world class striker, or go to a club that turned Hoijland into a meme

Let's keep today's Get Involved Benjamin Sesko focused. For now, anyway.

Simple question: Where should the striker go this summer?

  5. Sesko 'wants' Man Utd with talks 'closing in'published at 08:12 British Summer Time 6 August

    Manchester United

    Big piece of Gossip already.

The Athletic's David Ornstein has posted on X in the last few minutes that Manchester United "are closing in" on Benjamin Sesko.

He says RB Leipzig have accepted a bid from Newcastle, but Sesko "wants" to join Manchester United.

"No club-to-club agreement yet but talks advancing towards conclusion," he adds.

Now that Manchester United have officially entered the race to sign Benjamin Sesko, let's remind ourselves of how we've arrived at this point in the saga:

    • 24 July - Alexander Isak is left out of Newcastle's squad for their pre-season tour of Asia and tells the club he wants to explore a move away
    • 25 July - Newcastle begin working on a move for Sesko as a potential Isak replacement
    • 30 July - Man United make Sesko their number one transfer target
    • 1 August - Newcastle reject Liverpool bid of £110m for Isak
    • 2 August - Newcastle make a first bid for Sesko reportedly worth £65m plus £4.3m in add-ons. RB Leipzig reject the offer.
    • 4 August - Newcastle reportedly submit an improved offer of £69.5m plus add-ons for Sesko.
    • 5 August - Man United offer a guaranteed payment of 75m euros (£65.2m), but the overall package including add-ons could rise to 85m euros (£73.8m). This is still less than Newcastle's second offer.
