Solihull Moors debutant Joe Dodoo scored from the penalty spot to earn his new side a point against play-off hunting Altrincham.

The former Leicester City, Rangers, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and Doncaster Rovers striker's short-term deal was only announced a matter of hours kick-off.

But, after the Moors had gone a goal behind at the break, Dodoo stepped up from 12 yards to secure a 1-1 draw before Justin Amaluzor's dismissal left the hosts a man short for over half-an-hour.

Alty went ahead on 17 minutes when Tom Crawford's dogged retrieval work helped set Regan Linney free and the prolific forward did the rest, cutting in from a wide position to fire into the top corner for his 20th National League goal of the season.

The lead lasted until the 52nd minute, when Robbie Cundy won a penalty and Dodoo was given the responsibility.

Seven minutes later, Amaluzor was harshly red carded - but Matt Taylor's men could not make the extra man pay.

Playing their fourth home game in 11 days, Alty ended a run of five straight defeats by moving back within a point of the play-off places, edging up a place to eighth, while Solihull are now up to 16th, eight points clear of trouble, having now lost just once in five games.
