Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim, speaking to TNT Sports: "We did well [in the first leg], but also we can do better and that's why we work this week to do better. We need to be smart."

On Andre Onana: "He needs to focus on doing a good game. He's a professional and he is our player and he is in the starting XI."

Our midfield choice (again) makes me nervous, especially away in Europe. Great individually, but together they don't synergise well. Bergvall has the potential to be the game dictator, but not in a side with Maddison, who wants to do the same.

    Ben - nervous Spurs fan.

Speaking to sources about Andre Onana for a feature I did on Manchester United's goalkeeping situation earlier this week, it was pointed out to me that one of the major reasons the Cameroon international was bought from Inter Milan for £47.2m was his short passing game.

That was under his former boss at Ajax, Erik ten Hag.

Now he is being asked to play longer by Ruben Amorim.

He really needs a big game tonight.

Fiorentina and Real Betis are through to the semi-finals of the Conference League after sealing aggregate wins in the early quarter-finals this evening.

Fiorentina managed to draw 2-2 despite going 2-1 down against Slovenian side Celje, avoiding a scare and winning 4-3 on aggregate.

Betis drew 1-1 with Jagiellonia to win 3-1 across the two legs.

We've got two more games coming up at 20:00 BST, with the winners of those ties facing each other in the semis.

A colossal night at Old Trafford tonight. Less so for this season, but for the future success of the next two or three seasons. A real crossroads moment for the club in terms of on-field success, future finances and the ability to attract new signings.

    From Andrew.

Manchester United's three central defenders spent most of the warm-up working together.

They ended it by playing passing triangles of about 10 yards, and then lofted passes of around 30.

It is the effectiveness of Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui that can create a platform for the rest of the United team to move forward.

I genuinely believe it would be negative for English football if Spurs or Man Utd got into the Champions League. Both just aren’t at that level.

The rain is teaming down here in Frankfurt. It hasn’t relented for around an hour or so. Another treacherous factor for Tottenham to negotiate on what will be an anxious night.

In terms of the team Mathys Tel and Brennan Johnson flank lone striker Dominic Solanke ahead of Wilson Odobert and fit-again Dejan Kulusevski as Spurs make do without their captain and key attacker Son Heung-min.

Man Utd have had a worse season than Spurs, by far. At least Spurs score loads of goals and play exciting football more often than not.

Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes are on the pitch to my left, talking to the host broadcasters.

If only United had players of that quality available to them now.

The pair were both part of the side that won the Champions League in 2008, a team that also included Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez, Edwin van der Sar, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra amongst others.

I was talking to someone earlier this week who spent quite a long time working on the playing side up to a few years ago.

By their assessment seven of the starting line-up for the Newcastle game were Championship standard players.

It was a damning assessment, especially considering how much has been spent.

This is Lyon's first visit to Old Trafford since 2008 when the Red Devils won 1-0 in the Champions League.

The team that night included Cristiano Ronaldo, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney.

United were a very good team back then.

It can save your season [if you win the Europa League]. As a player, this is a European semi-final.

I know the Premier League has been a mess and they're 15th, they can fix all that and win this tie. And if they win the Europa League, I still think they have the best squad in this Europa League, including Man United.

If you win tonight, get in the Champions League then you fix a lot of those issues.

Lyon's former AC Milan boss Paulo Fonseca on the task facing his side: "I expect Manchester United’s strongest performance of the season. They are a big team and a big club.

True, in the Premier League they are not what they were. It has been a bit different but in the Europa League they have put in some good performances and have a lot of individual skills.

"I expect to be playing against the best United there is. It is a decisive moment for Manchester United. They will be super motivated for the match."

Spence is just a far better defender than Porro. I just don't understand why he doesn't start. Porro is not a defender, good going forward, but we need to tighten our defence.

On how difficult it will be for Spurs without Son Heung-min.

It's really difficult. He's the club captain, he's the experienced one. You look at that team, it's quite an attacking team. there's a lot of goals in that team.

They have a lot of guys who could change the game. I know Son's not been in the best form but it's a huge opportunity for Mathys Tel and he's better off the left-hand side, he's not a natural striker. It's a step up and it's a huge opportunity for him to do that tonight.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou speaking to TNT Sports:

On Mathys Tel starting: "At least we have some options these days. Obviously, losing Sonny [Heung-min] was a big blow for us but Mathys did well at the weekend and he's familiar with German football, so it'll be a good option for him to start.

"When you get deep into tournaments every game's tight. A club like this hasn't been in many semi-finals, so the opportunity to get to one and the opportunity we have tonight...we want to take it."

I was dropped and that's what has happened to Andre Onana because he has not been good enough. He has had eight direct errors leading to goals since the end of last season.

He is playing behind a poor Manchester United side and he's conceded 99 goals. But there's no recent Manchester United side that have been as poor as this one.

When I got dropped at Tottenham it was when Juande Ramos came in. My confidence was fragile.

When you're playing well the ball seems the size of a beach ball, but when you're not playing well the ball seems like a golf ball.

  18. 'Onana will want to show what he's about'published at 19:28 British Summer Time 17 April

Man Utd v Lyon (20:00 BST)

Harry Maguire on Andre Onana, who returns to the side after being dropped at the weekend: "Andre has proved in his past that he is an excellent goalkeeper, he has proved it at Inter Milan, won numerous trophies.

"In a career you always have spells when you go up and down. It is about how you build yourself up. You have times when you feel everything is going against you. He is a big personality and big character and will want to show everyone what he is all about."

Andre Onana is certainly going to be in the spotlight.

No goalkeeper is rotated. There is a number one and a number two. Let's get it straight, Andre Onana was dropped at the weekend.

Ruben Amorim didn't put him on the bench at Newcastle because he didn't know how he was going to react to being dropped.

What's in store for Andre Onana tonight?

Back in the team after those errors in France, Onana said before the first leg that Manchester United were "way better" than Lyon.

Will those words come back to haunt him?
