Simon Murray scored his first two goals of the season

Simon Murray opened his account for the season as Dundee concluded their Premier Sports Cup campaign with victory at home to Montrose.

The Dens Park captain scored an early penalty after Ross Clark had fouled Drey Wright and Murray was on hand to convert a rebound from close range early in the second period following Emile Acquah's saved shot.

There was a late flurry of goals with Clark Robertson and Luke Graham striking either side of a Ryan Astley header.

Dundee finish third in Group C and miss out on progress to the last 16.

They open their Scottish Premiership campaign at home to Hibernian on 3 August.
