This is the first league meeting between Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle since a 1-0 win for the Pilgrims on Boxing Day in 2009.
Having beaten Cardiff in their last league meeting in 2009, Plymouth are looking for consecutive wins against them for the first time since September 1993.
Cardiff have won just two of their last 22 league games played on Boxing Day (D11 L9), both home wins in 2010 (2-0 vs Coventry) and 2012 (2-1 vs Crystal Palace).
Plymouth have lost just two of their last 24 Boxing Day league games (W14 D8), although one of those was in Wales, losing 2-0 to Newport County in 2014. The other was against AFC Wimbledon in 2018.
Cardiff City won their last home league game against a promoted side, winning 2-1 vs Sheffield Wednesday in August. They haven’t won consecutively at home since wins over Coventry and Wycombe in February and April 2021 respectively.
