Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "The starting XI speaks for itself. We've had good levels from the players who have had the opportunities.

"The results and the performances have been pretty good and we're looking for continuity and to cause what would be an upset today.

"Aberdeen's start has been excellent, that shows the size of the task we face."

  2. Levein wants solid St Johnstonepublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 14 September

    Hibernian v St Johnstone (15:00)

St Johnstone manager Craig Levein: "We know it's going to be difficult as Hibs have a much bigger budget and good quality players. We've got to be mindful of that.

"We have to be good defensively. That's the priority in any away game in the Premiership in Scotland.

"Then we need to try to take advantage of any opportunities that come our way."

  3. Hearts have 'belief' at Celtic Park - Naismithpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 14 September

Celtic v Heart of Midlothian (15:00)

Hearts head coach Steven Naismith tells BBC Sportsound: "The start of the season's been disappointing.

"Celtic have started well, they're an excellent team. But last season showed us that we've got belief that we can get a result.

"We've got a young squad. There's an inconsistency at times. I do feel on top of that we've been hurt by every mistake that we've made. We've probably not carried that wee bit of luck.

"We know that we'll need to defend really well. When the chances come along, you need to be clinical with them."

  4. Shinnie missing through illness - Thelinpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 14 September

    Aberdeen v Motherwell (15:00)

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin reveals that captain Graeme Shinnie is missing due to illness and expects the midfielder to return next week.

Speaking to BBC Scotland about his manager of the month award, he adds: "For me as a coach, it's about the people I work with and, of course, the players. It's been a good connection with everyone and that's been a help. We believe in what we're doing, but need to stay humble.

And what of Duk? Thelin is all about "looking forward" and hopes the forward is "game ready soon" after he went AWOL until failing to earn a summer transfer.

  5. Docherty 'delighted' with 'inspiring' Murraypublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 14 September

    Ross County v Dundee (15:00)

Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells BBC Scotland: "[The international break] was really good. It was pleasing to have five players away on international duty. To get all the squad back and see the strength of the squad now is really pleasing.

"There is a fine line between confidence and complacency, but I’ve got a group there that is balanced and knows how to get success. For us, it’s about making sure we continue the momentum.

"Today is a difficult match versus a difficult team."

Striker Simon Murray faces his former side and Docherty adds: "They’ll know Simon. They’ll know his strengths and his weaknesses, but I was just delighted to get Simon in the building. He’s such an enthusiastic and inspiring character.

"It’s why I’ve made him captain [in Joe Shaughnessy’s absence]. He’s a leader in the dressing room."

  6. Swede's arrival has been Thelinpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 14 September

    Aberdeen v Motherwell (19:45)

No wonder Jimmy Thelin is being looked upon at Pittodrie as the best thing since Alex Ferguson.

Aberdeen have won all nine games since the Swedish manager arrived from Elfsborg this summer and their four in the Premiership has them level on points with reigning champions Celtic.

Five of those wins have come at home, with an aggregate score of 14-2, and the home winning sequence is now at eight running into last season - 12 unbeaten.

The Dons are unbeaten in seven games against Motherwell and will be favourites to continue that run, but it will not be easy considering Stuart Kettlewell's improving visitors are themselves on a three-game winning streak.

  7. Will Naismith upset odds again?published at 14:25 British Summer Time 14 September

Celtic v Heart of Midlothian (15:00)

Steven Naismith is facing the heat after suffering six defeats in a row - just one point from their opening four league games being Hearts' poorest start to a top-flight campaign in the 21st century.

Hardly the ideal time to be visiting reigning champions who have only conceded once this season - in a 3-1 League Cup win over Hibernian - and who are one game away from matching the feat of five opening league games without losing a goal achieved only once before - under Willie Maley in 1906-07.

Head coach Naismith proved he could conjure upsets against Brendan Rodgers' side with two wins out of four meetings last season, including a 2-0 win at Celtic Park in December.

What the former Rangers striker would give for a repeat.

  9. Rodgers wants goals from Engelspublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 14 September

Celtic v Heart of Midlothian (15:00)

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Sportsound: "Strength and depth good, so nice squad to start this next block of games."

Of new signing Arne Engels, he says: "We looked at his capacity and his physicality, which is going to really help the team - his running power, his aggression, his technique - and, as a young player, we hope we can develop him into being a goal scoring midfield player.

"I want us to be more prolific and more relentless in that. We need to finish just that little bit better.

"The clean sheets, of course, it's really nice if you can get that. You can still win games without it, but what's been most impressive has been that mentality in our pressing and that hunger and greed to get the ball back."

  10. Newell misses out; Holt in for Saintspublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 14 September

    Hibernian v St Johnstone (15:00)

Captain Joe Newell is absent from the squad, while Lewis Miller and Martin Boyle drop to the bench after the duo arrived home from international duty with Australia.

In come Nicky and Chris Cadden, who start together for the first time, and forward Elie Youan makes his first league start of the season.

St Johnstone's Craig Levein is without centre-back Jack Sanders due to suspension, so it could be that Aaron Essel drops back into defence.

Cammy MacPherson makes way as fellow midfielders Sven Sprangler and Jason Holt come into the XI.

Midfielder Ante Palaversa replaces captain Graeme Shinnie, who isn't in the squad, while Kevin Nisbet comes in to lead the line with Ester Sokler dropping to the substitutes.

Midfielder Leighton Clarkson returns to the bench, but there is still no Duk after the winger returned to the squad after failing to force a transfer.

Motherwell are unchanged after their late win away to St Johnstone, which means young duo Lennon Miller and Ewan Wilson keep their places after impressing with Scotland Under-21s.

  12. Van Veen on bench as Mayo misses outpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 14 September

    St Mirren v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Stephen Robinson makes two changes to the St Mirren side that drew 2-2 with Dundee a fortnight ago.

Midfielder Roland Idowu and left-back Jaden Brown replace Killian Phillips and Scott Tanser.

Striker Kevin van Veen could make his St Mirren debut off the bench.

Kilmarnock make a double change too. Centre-half Lewis Mayo and striker Bruce Anderson are out, with the latter at least named on the bench.

Jack Burroughs comes in at right-back, with Marley Watkins starting up top.

There are also three changes for Dundee. Tony Docherty opts to bring in defender Ethan Ingram, midfielder Josh Mulligan and striker Seb Palmer-Houlden, with Jordan McGhee, Sammy Braybrooke and Curtis Main dropping to the bench.
