    Netherlands 2-2 Spain

    It's all over.

The Dutch put up a staunch rearguard display and thought Tijjani Reinder's rapid goal after the interval had won it, but Mikel Merino's late strike ensures that the tie hangs in the balance.

  6. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

GOAL - Netherlands 2-2 Spainpublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Mikel Merino (90+3 mins)

    Equaliser for Spain!

Nico Williams cuts inside from the left and unleashes a rasping drive which Bart Verbruggen can't gather, and Arsenal man Mikel Merino is on hand to roll the ball in.

  8. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Denmark 1-0 Portugal

Portugal want a penalty but they're not going to get one.

Bernardo Silva ran into the box and collided with Manchester neighbour Patrick Dorgu but it was no more than a coming together and the referee rightly waves it away.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Croatia 2-0 France

All over and it is advantage Croatia in the battle for a place in final four. The second leg takes place on Sunday.

Jonas Wind and Andreas Olsen combine well down the Denmark right but Olsen smashes his low shot into the sidenetting.

  11. CLOSE!published at 21:35 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Netherlands 2-1 Spain

Shot after shot is fired at the Netherlands goal but still no Spanish equaliser.

It's been a proper rearguard effort from the Dutch at times in this second half.

Perhaps Ronald Koeman's pre-match remarks about parking the bus were well founded after all.

  12. Postpublished at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Croatia 2-0 France

We're into the first of four minutes of stoppage time and it looks like being a night of frustration for France.

  13. Postpublished at 21:33 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Denmark 1-0 Portugal

Portugal have offered very little since the Danes took the lead.

Indeed they have been very flat for the most part tonight but they will be confident of turning a one goal deficit around in Lisbon on Sunday if it ends like this.

  14. Postpublished at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Netherlands 2-1 Spain

Looking back at that Jorrel Hato red card, replays showed he did catch Robin Le Normand quite high on the ankle. Definitely the correct call to show a red card.

He'll be unavailable for the return tie.

Meanwhile on the pitch Bart Verbruggen is getting increasinly busy keeping Spain at bay, his latest save denies Nico Williams a second goal of the game.

  15. Postpublished at 21:30 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Italy 1-2 Germany

Italy are pushing for the leveller here but time is running out as we enter the 85th minute.

  16. Postpublished at 21:28 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Denmark 1-0 Portugal

Denmark are not content to settle for a one goal lead here.

Gustav Isaksen beats Diogo Dalot on the left to make some room in the box but his low drive is easily gathered by Diogo Costa.

  17. Postpublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Croatia 2-0 France

France are really pushing now as Dominik Livakovic makes a brilliant save to keep out Kylian Mbappe's effort.

  18. RED CARD - Jorrel Hatopublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Netherlands 2-1 Spain

The Dutch are down to ten for the final ten minutes or so as Jorrel Hato is dismissed for a foul on Robin Le Normand.

  19. CLOSE!published at 21:26 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March

    Netherlands 2-1 Spain

A brief period of Dutch ascendancy sees Xavi Simons denied by a Robin Le Normand block before Teun Koopmeiners is denied by Unai Simon.

A third goal would really set them up well ahead of the second leg of this tie on Sunday in Valencia.
