Cardiff City have won eight of their last nine home league games against Southampton (L1), winning five of those matches 1-0 and the other three 2-1.
After winning the reverse fixture 2-0 back in December, Southampton will be looking to record a league double over Cardiff City for the first time since the 1965-66 season.
Cardiff City have failed to win any of their five league games this season against sides who were relegated from the Premier League last term (D1 L4), losing both of their home matches without scoring during that sequence.
Southampton have lost just two of their last 16 away league games (W8 D6) failing to score in just one of those matches, though that did come during their last such match in a 0-0 draw against Blackburn Rovers. The Saints have also conceded 3+ goals in three of their last five away matches.
Eight of Cardiff City’s last nine Championship goals have come via eight different sources with the only player to score twice in favour of the Bluebirds during that time being Coventry City defender Liam Kitching, who scored two own goals in the Welsh side’s 2-1 victory at the start of April.
