    Brad Hills (89 mins OG)

    Could they???

It's against the run of lay and it's an unfortunate moment for debutant Brad Hills.

GOAL: Swansea 2-1 Gillinghampublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 13 August

Oliver Hawkins heads in, just as Swansea were looking fairly comfortable.

  4. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:31 British Summer Time 13 August

    Cambridge 1-2 QPR

Cambridge are so close to making it 2-2.

Shayne Lavery puts all the power he can muster behind his shot, but it rattles the post.

Blackpool have ended 10-man Burton's resistance as Matthew Pennington scores twice to make it 3-0 against 10 men.

Bradford are back in the game, 1-1 at Grimsby with a goal from Andy Cook.

Birmingham will have to see out the tie at Charlton with 10 men. Dion Sanderson hauls down an attack and gets a second booking. But Blues still lead 1-0.

Mansfield have equalised at Bolton with a goal from Davis Keillor-Dunn, who marched into the penalty area and shot low across the keeper into the bottom-right corner.

Wrexham's threat - despite their gold change shirts - has dulled a little since the restart and their Championship hosts have made the most of it.

It'll go down as an own goal, but you can't blame Rhian Brewster for trying to claim it after some great work in the build-up... not to mention being without a goal for the Blades since October 2022.

  8. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:26 British Summer Time 13 August

    FT: Carlisle 0-2 Stoke

Carlisle had better opportunities early in the match, but Stoke City showed their quality in the second half.

That said, they needed two teenagers to score their first goals for the club to get them through this tie against their League Two opponents.

A moment Freddie Anderson will never forget came when the 17-year-old headed the ball into the net.

18-year-old Emre Tezgel - who was Stoke's youngest ever first-team player when he made his debut aged 16 in 2022 - made the game safe with a second-half strike.

Fantastic goal from a Blackburn perspective again. Yuki Ohashi has been the danger man and he has shown his quality tonight.

    The youngsters look dejected now.

  12. Postpublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 13 August

    Carlisle 1-2 Stoke City

Carlisle are still pushing for a late equaliser.

Dan Barton is put through on goal for the League One side but can't squeeze a finish past QPR goalkeeper Joe Walsh.

    This isn't over just yet.

  13. goal

GOAL: Stockport 1-6 Blackburnpublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 13 August

    Jack Vale (88 mins)

Game, set and the match. Blackburn have six.

Tom Sang scores for Port Vale to put them ahead at Barrow, they lead 2-1 having conceded in just the first minute. But then Emile Acquah makes it 2-2!

George Thomason gets a goal for Bolton and they lead Mansfield 1-0.

And Reading are level at Colchester. Two down, Lewis Wing equalises. Also 2-2 in Essex.

  15. goal

GOAL: Watford 5-0 MK Donspublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 13 August

    Tom Ince (74 mins)

Well if there was even a shred of doubt about this one, that is gone.

Tom Ince completes his hat-trick with a second goal in seven minutes to score Watford's eighth goal in two games.

Tom Dele-Bashiru, who has been excellent in midfield, gets a shot away which Nathan Harness can only palm out to Ince to tuck away his first hat-trick in nine years.

Watford's name is firmly in the hat for the next round.

  16. goal

GOAL - Sheff Utd 2-1 Wrexhampublished at 21:17 British Summer Time 13 August

    Lewis Brunt (OG 57mins)

The Blades lead! Rhian Brewster does well to run in behind the Wrexham defence, he has men in the middle and puts in a dangerous low ball which ricochets in off the heels of the hapless Lewis Brunt.

Mads Frokjaer-Jensen runs powerfully at the Sunderland defence and then lashes in low and hard from the edge of the area.

  18. 'Jackson goal given Rams an extra spring'published at 21:15 British Summer Time 13 August

    Derby 2-1 Chesterfield

    Darren Robinson
Former Derby coach on BBC Radio Derby

That left-footed in-swinging delivery was much more of a threat and Kayden Jackson was there to take it home.

Now that momentum of scoring has given an extra spring to the Rams. They are getting forward and that's what we want to see.

  19. goal

GOAL: Swansea 2-0 Gillinghampublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 13 August

    Liam Cullen (71 mins)

It's raining goals across the EFL Cup first round at the moment.

A clever cross from Swansea's Josh Key finds Liam Cullen at the back post and the substitute puts the ball in the net from close range against the 10 men of Gillingham.

  20. goal

GOAL: Derby 2-1 Chesterfieldpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 13 August

    Kayden Jackson (68 mins)

Derby have turned it round at Pride Park and it's one of Paul Warne's substitutes Kayden Jackson who gives the home side the lead.

A corner comes in and Chesterfield can't clear as it drops in the box, and Jackson makes no mistake from barely a yard out.

Now what can the Spireites do?
