    It was a tough campaign for the Republic of Ireland but they ended it on a high after a superb win.

    Sweden and England drew 0-0 in Gothenburg, but that's enough for the Lionesses to automatically qualify for the finals in Switzerland next summer.

    The Republic of Ireland and Sweden will find out their play-off opponents on Friday.

    What a result for the Republic of Ireland as they defeat France, ranked the second highest team in the FIFA World Rankings, 3-1 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

    Cork native Denise O'Sullivan opened the scoring before Julie-Ann Russell doubled their lead.

    Vicki Becho did quickly cut Ireland's advantage in half, but Anna Patten's header, helped by a deflection, restored their two goal advantage.
