Grimsby extended their unbeaten League Two run to four matches to remain within touching distance of the play-offs with a narrow win at Doncaster.

Justin Obikwu's strike and a Joseph Olowu own goal put David Artell's side in full command, but Rob Street's late header for Doncaster ensured a nervy finish.

The hosts made the brighter start with Jordan Gibson, Luke Molyneux and Owen Bailey going close.

But Grimsby grew into the game and took the lead after 38 minutes when Obikwu pounced on a mistake, powered forward and drilled a low effort home from just inside the box.

Gibson saw an effort ruled out for offside within seconds of the start of the second half.

And by 47 minutes, Doncaster found themselves two down when Jason Svanthorsson raced across the byline and poked across goal with the ball ricocheting in off Olowu's leg from close range.

Street looped a header over Grimsby goalkeeper Jordan Wright from a Molyneux cross after 85 minutes to set up a grandstand finish.

And while Patrick Kelly saw an effort blocked and Molyneux pulled a shot wide, Grimsby held on for maximum points to sit ninth, four points behind their opponents in the table.
