Incredible to think Rangers are 16 points behind league leaders Hearts as kick-off approaches.

There is no other option for Danny Rohl this afternoon - he must secure Rangers' first Premiership win of the season.

The history books suggest he has a fair chance. The last player to score a winning goal for Kilmarnock at Ibrox?

The former Rangers striker Kris Boyd. He scored past Wes Foderingham in goal with James Tavernier at right-back. A certain Russell Martin was also in the Rangers defence that day in March 2018.

Hibs have got in behind a couple times in the past few minutes, but they've squandered both chances.

Can Aberdeen continue to be so open?

Aberdeen come forward and Jesper Karlsson fires a tame effort at goal for Raphael Sallinger to gather with ease.

It's end-to-end at the moment.

Another half chance for Hibs as Josh Mulligan surges towards the edge of the box.

It's a huge afternoon in more ways than one for Danny Rohl.

His first home match as Rangers head coach, his first Premiership match into the bargain.

Who'd have thought he'd be coming into it with the Ibrox team as the only side in the entire division still seeking their first home league win?

Given the gap to top-flight leaders Hearts, I think we can safely file this under 'must-win'.

Ah, okay. I see what you're doing there.

Hearts head coach Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "I enjoyed seeing my players work so hard for a result, we knew had to. We started the game brilliantly. That first 10 minutes was really assured, looked like a team who was ready for the game.

"We moved the ball side to side, had good control, arrived in good areas, plenty entries into the box and deservedly went in front.

"The early pressure we put Celtic under paid off, but then we knock off. The initial reaction from Celtic is everything you would expect. We should stop the goal at source. We're a bit dippy, not quite at it, and we were punished.

"From then on, I thought Celtic were the better side. Our press wasn't quite right. We finished the first half well. Had good moments, could have got another goal in that period. At half-time, we corrected a few things and spoke about the importance of doing a bit more and we did that.

"The second goal, it's a lovely finish from Kyziridis but we work from left to right, right to left, engaged with our strikers, and worked it into an area where you want your players one-v-one on the edge of the box, and he's got the quality to get the goal.

"The third goal, the penalty, comes from striker play again. It's a bit more basic this time. Lawrence wins the flick, Braga runs behind and he's got the technical ability to invite the tackle. Lawrence tucks it away.

"What we have got here, you see how hard the players work, the togetherness. We've got that side. That's not always enough to win games week in, week out.

"What we have got is good technical ability. You're seeing that from a lot of players who have been here previously. Some of the new signings are quite eager to demonstrate that.

"We've got a good thing going at the minute, but it's only three points. It's important for us to keep winning, and I'm glad we've managed to do that."

That should be 1-0 to Aberdeen.

Jesper Karlsson and Kevin Nisbet link up on the edge of the box and tee up Adil Aouchiche on the right, but he drags the shot wide.

Huge chance.

Hibs are getting a bit of a foothold.

Kilmarnock manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "There's nothing to add on [goalkeeper Max Stryjek]. We were as transparent as we could be last week. In due course, when people need to be updated, they will be.

"We want to show a reaction from last weekend. We were disappointed by the nature of the goals we conceded, so we just need to remind ourselves that the level of concentration has to be on point.

"We've got a game plan, we know what we want to look like. It's going to be difficult, it's a new manager's first home game and I've been here often enough to know what that sounds and feels like."

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl tells BBC Scotland: "When you take over and you are at Rangers you know what you have to do - it's about winning games.

"So far we haven't won at home in the league, but this is what we have to do today.

"We have an idea of what we want to do. We have to find a strong starting XI and what is the best fit, how we can play our style of football.

"All the basic things like effort, winning duels, being a unit and being connected, it was not good enough [against Brann]. We were honest with the players so I want to see a reaction, a team who is connected, who work hard and have a mindset to attack the opponent.

"I hope we can make a step forward from the last game. This is crucial. It's not an excuse, but I've only had one more training session between the games.

"But it's really important that our mindset is clear, this is what I want to see from the team today."

Gavin Molloy slashes over the Hibs crossbar as Aberdeen look for an early opener.

Away we go at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin tells BBC Scotland: "It's important we keep believing in what we're doing. Sometimes these results can happen. It's not something we want, we want to show a better side of ourselves.

"The most important thing today is to show passion on the pitch, to run for each other, for our fans. It's about how we compete.

"That was the big thing in Athens, we lost too many challenges and the team were far too open. We want to show a different side of ourselves today."

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Scotland: "Disappointing result and performance. It's a disappointing day.

"We go behind in the game, show a good mentality to come back, score a good goal.

"I just think we gave it away too easily. We've got to do better with the [second goal]. He likes to come inside, he likes to shoot. And then we make the mistake for the penalty, so all of a sudden it's 3-1.

"Its a game we should take something from, but we didn't do enough.

"Dane [Murray], the young players, you have to be exposed to the pressure. We're needing these players. Dane makes the own goal and is then a little bit rash for the penalty. It's something he'll learn from.

"We need to find a way to be more consistent. It's still so early, it's only nine games. The comfort is there's so many games to play. We know we can find a consistent set of games. There's still so many points to play for."

Rodgers added that injured forward Daizen Maeda will take part in training tomorrow, when defender Cameron Carter-Vickers will undergo surgery on an Achilles injury.

To be fair, Martin, Aberdeen were never clear of Celtic last season, never mind eight points clear.
