The Olympiapark in Munich is the main destination for the tens of thousands of fans without tickets.

An alert was sent out on the Uefa app at about 14:30 BST warning the fan zone was at full capacity and would be temporarily closed.

Half an hour later and a steady stream of fans were continuing to come through - but a Uefa official told me they were nearing the 25,000 capacity and may shut the entrance soon.

This was the scene at Munich’s Olympiapark – the main fan park for the Scotland vs Germany match tonight – with five hours to go until kick-off.

Around 25,000 fans will be watching here. Most of them will be Scottish, it seems. The fan zone is nearing capacity already.

  5. Germany and Scotland fans celebrating togetherpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 14 June

These Scotland fans stopped me in the streets when they saw my mic.

They wanted to tell me how wonderfully the Germans have welcomed them to their city and wanted to say thank you to Munich.

They say everyone they met has been so friendly, helpful and keen to make it an amazing atmosphere.

Another Scotland fan told me she saw German fans having a go at playing the bagpipes. The piper from Scotland was teaching him how to play!

"Was he any good?", I asked.

"Naaahhhh", she replied, "we'll keep the pipers Scottish for now!"

  6. Pickford's experience key to England's chancespublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 14 June

    Alex Howell
BBC football news reporter at the England camp

There are a number of young players included in this squad who don't have much experience on the international stage.

Jordan Pickford looked relaxed as he spoke to the media room and even laughed and joked as he kicked Kieran Trippier and John Stones out of the room.

The England number one said even though they laugh and joke, they are all demanding on the pitch of each other

Jordan Pickford made his senior international debut in November 2017 and soon established himself as England's number one, playing in all 19 games they have played at a major tournament since Iceland knocked them out of Euro 2016.

The Everton goalkeeper is going into his fourth consecutive major tournament after playing all seven games at the 2018 World Cup, all seven at Euro 2020 and all five at the 2022 World Cup.

The 30-year-old has played in England's last 13 competitive fixtures, a run which began at the start of the 2022 World Cup, and the former Sunderland keeper heads into Euro 2024 with 61 caps overall.

  8. Former England keeper Hart gives goalkeeping masterclasspublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 14 June

Joe Hart was England's number one before Jordan Pickford took over in goal for the Three Lions.

Hart ended his international career with 75 caps and the 37-year-old retired at the end of the season after helping Celtic win the Scottish double.

The former Manchester City keeper will be part of the BBC's team during Euro 2024 but before he headed out to Germany he gave our very own Liam Loftus a goalkeeping masterclass.

Serbia v England (Sun, 20:00 BST)

    England

Back to Jordan Pickford and the England goalkeeper was full of praise for Germany stopper Manuel Neuer, who is part of the squad to face Scotland in tonight's opening match of the Euros: "One of the best keepers in my era growing up. I still love to watch him now. What a top goalkeeper he is - for what he has won and how he plays the game.

"At 38, to still be playing at the highest level is something I'd like to be doing.

"He's probably one of the top three in the last 15 to 20 years."

If you were in Munich's Marienplatz today you wouldn't think Germany were playing, as Scotland fans have completely taken over the square.

Munich city authorities have said there will definitely be no public viewing, external there due to overcrowding concerns, urging fans to spread out elsewhere in the city.

The fan zone in Olympiapark is also about to close so fans are being told not to go there anymore.

Serbia v England (Sun, 20:00 BST)

    England

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on two clean sheets in seven games heading into the tournament and whether it is a concern: "We've played some top opponents but clean sheets are key in major tournaments to get to final, to win the tournaments. For us, it's about getting as many as we can because everyone in the room knows the ability we have up top."

  12. 'If I keep improving, the competition has to improve'published at 15:06 British Summer Time 14 June

Serbia v England (Sun, 20:00 BST)

    England

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on competition for his place: "That makes me want to improve. I've got the jersey and I want to keep pushing forward. They need to chase me. If I keep improving, the competition has to improve - that's what I think is good about the England goalkeeper situation at the minute. There's a lot of good goalkeepers."

  13. England captain Kane is 'an example for us to look at'published at 15:05 British Summer Time 14 June

Serbia v England (Sun, 20:00 BST)

    England

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on Harry Kane, who is set to break the record for most major tournament appearances by an England player: "Harry leads by example, the skipper. The professionalism he gives us, he is an example for us to look at and he is the record goalscorer. What he does on and off the pitch leads by example. Season by season he has with his club, the amount of goals he scores, shows us the example we need. In training it's not nice for us goalkeepers but you are practicing against the best and that pushes us as well."

  14. My mentality is key - Pickfordpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 14 June

Serbia v England (Sun, 20:00 BST)

    England

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on his experiences at Everton: "There's a lot of positives and negatives at Everton. You learn from those experiences. You've got lads here like Jude Bellingham, who has just won the Champions League. In the 2022-23 season, we [Everton] were fighting for our lives to stay in the Premier League.

"All of those experiences bed in together [in order] to be successful in a tournament - the highs and lows throughout, those rises - that's where you have got to be mentally strong. That's something I am. My mentality, I think, is key."

  15. 'I know what I'm doing and I know I keep getting better'published at 14:57 British Summer Time 14 June

Serbia v England (Sun, 20:00 BST)

    England

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on whether he thinks he is properly appreciated: "I think yeah, it's 61 caps now for me. I work hard off the pitch and on the pitch I do everything right to the best of my ability. I always want to improve. I'm 30 now and I keep improving every day. If there's anything I can learn, I want to keep trying my best to improve. That's what keeps me pushing. That's why it's my fourth major tournament. That's why I have won Everton's player of the year for the last three seasons. I know what I'm doing and I know I keep getting better. Hopefully I'm appreciated and hopefully this tournament is a success."

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on his relationship with John Stones and Kieran Trippier: "We have that good craic with each other and demand off each other. That's the spirit you want in the squad, to get the best out of each other, to be successful."

On whether this squad is a nod towards the next generation: "I think we're getting older, the young lads are coming through. I was a young lad in 2018 in Russia [for the World Cup]. These experiences, you learn from them and get better. We can help the younger lads. Us 26 [in the squad] have just got to enjoy the moment, take each game as it comes, and be ready."

We have a really good togetherness in the squad, it has been the same each tournament. I have always enjoyed that off the pitch, [having] good connections with each other. Getting it right off the pitch is important as well as off the pitch."
