Going into tonight’s game Spain are favourites but England don't fear that. They know they're the European Champions and they've got something to defend but all in all they want to test themselves against the best and I think this Spanish side do play the best football globally at the moment.

  2. World Cup finalists meet againpublished at 12:38 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    England v Spain (20.00 GMT)

As well as the Premier League, there is a huge match in the Women's Nations League tonight.

Two of Europe's heavyweights go head-to-head at Wembley on Wednesday in a repeat of the Women's World Cup final as England host Spain.

It is the second round of Women's Nations League matches and England are hoping to bounce back from an underwhelming draw with Portugal.

World champions Spain came from 2-0 down to beat Belgium 3-2 in their last match to lead the group, overcoming a difficult week off the pitch to show their credentials.

In regards to Ten Hag comments, I seem to remember lots of press conference where he got very irked by criticism. Maybe he's got a selective memory!

The thing I find hardest to take here, is that Ten Hag didn’t respond well to criticism either. Has he forgotten how so many of his press conferences went?

  4. Galatasaray accuse Mourinho of 'crossing borders of racist behaviour'published at 12:28 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    Fenerbahce

There has been an update in the fall-out from Jose Mourinho's comments following the draw between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig.

In a statement, Galatasaray say Fenerbahce manager Mourinho's "systematic derogatory comments" about the league, Turkish referees and the country are "increasingly concerning" and that is essential for somebody in his position to "promote respect".

The statement comes after the club accused Mourinho of making "racist statements" and said they would "initiate criminal proceedings" against him following the 0-0 draw.

It is not clear exactly which comments Galatasaray have been referring to.

Speaking in the news conference after the Istanbul derby, Mourinho said the home bench had been "jumping like monkeys" and also repeated his criticism of Turkish match officials, saying it would have been a "disaster" to use one in the game.

Monday's match was refereed by Slovenian Slavko Vincic after both clubs requested a foreign official take charge of the fixture.

Fenerbahce said on Tuesday that Mourinho's quotes had been "completely taken out of context and deliberately distorted."

"Trying to portray this statement as racist is a completely malicious approach," it said.

Today another statement from Galatasaray, quoting board member Can Natan, said Mourinho's remarks are "not only insulting but also illustrate a troubling pattern that crosses the borders of racist behaviour."

Former England and Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has called tonight's trip to Nottingham Forest a must-win for Mikel Arteta's Arsenal.

Arsenal currently sit 11 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool with 12 games to go.

"Every game now is a must win," Seaman told BBC Radio 5 Live. "Try and put some pressure on Liverpool, that’s why the result at the weekend [defeat to West Ham] was so disappointing, but it’s a tough game.

"Forest are really on form, it’s at Forest. It’s going to be a really tough game. This will show us where we’re going and what we’ve got to do for the rest of the season."

Former Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman insists Mikel Arteta is the right man to manage the club.

Unless the Gunners win the Champions League it is looking like another trophyless season for Arsenal, but Seaman has said Arsenal are still showing enough progress under the Spanish boss.

Seaman told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I’m privileged that I go into Arsenal once a week and I see the players train, the way Mikel works he’s getting the best out of the players, there’s no doubt about that. He’s getting the best out of everyone, not just the players, the staff.

"The whole training ground is all together. I would definitely not go down that route, we’re getting better and better and we’re now serious contenders for the Premier League.

"We have good chances in the Champions League and then, it’s a progression. It needs to be progressed every season."

Earlier this week, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said he is hopeful of having Brazilian midfielder Joelinton for tonight's trip to Liverpool.

If Joelinton does feature, he will have to avoid picking up a yellow card as it would be his 10th of the season.

Any player picking up 10 yellow cards prior to the conclusion of their club's 32nd league game of the season will be handed a two-match ban.

Other players currently on nine yellow cards are Flynn Downes (Southampton), Moises Caicedo (Chelsea) and Ryan Christie (Bournemouth), who all played on Tuesday night and avoided bookings.

Players these days can’t take criticism. Simple as that. Yet they’re happy to take the praise and accolades when it’s going well. I played a bit of semi pro football in the 70s, and if the manager tore a strip off you, you went out to double your effort, and prove him wrong. These days, the players just go on social media to complain how they’ve been badly treated - by their boss - and most just down tools! Then they got to their agent and ask him to put feelers out for a move, which gets spread around social media again, undermining the manager and team, and stressing out supporters. No one should ever be too big to take criticism.

More from former Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman on Arsenal's lack of a primary goalscorer.

Seaman, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, also said that despite issues in front of goal and currently trailing Premier League leaders by 11 points, the club still being in the Champions League mean it can still be a positive season.

"There’s been players chipping in with three, four, five goals but when you look at the teams, you look at Liverpool, you look at City, they’ve all got main strikers," said Seaman.

"There’s something that is not obvious, but we’re crying out for it. We’ve been playing this type of football for a long time and I just think that will finish the jigsaw, that will be the final piece in hopefully, we will see it happen.

"You never know about this season because it’s not all done. We’ve still got the Champions League to go and that will be a big ask, but it’s not all doom and gloom."

David Seaman has called on his former side to prioritise signing a striker.

Arsenal failed to score against West Ham on Saturday, a game they lost 1-0. Their two main strikers, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, are both currently sidelined with long-term injuries.

Seaman, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, said he agrees with fans and pundits who have called for Arsenal to sign a new forward this summer.

"When you look at the Arsenal performance, we didn’t create enough chances. I think they had either one shot at the West Ham goal or the goalkeeper only made one save with his foot and then, that was it," he said.

"Obviously, people are going to focus on [the fact] we’ve always needed a striker and I must admit, that’s what I’m saying as well. We tried to get one in the transfer window. Hopefully, there’s now one lined up for the summer but it’s going to be a bit too late I think."

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has backed Mikel Arteta's refusal to give up on the title race.

Arsenal are currently 11 points behind leaders Liverpool with 13 games remaining.

That run starts with a trip to third-place Nottingham Forest this evening and going into that game, Arteta said "over my dead body" when asked if he had given up on the title race.

Seaman, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, agreed with Arsenal's manager.

"It’s going to be a tough ask. I’m not going to deny that," said Seaman. "As I’d always say, until it’s mathematically not possible, then we’ll never admit it."

Fulham midfielder Sasa Lukic and Will Hughes of Crystal Palace have become the first two players in the Premier League this season to pick up 10 yellow cards.

Lukic was booked in the first half of Fulham's 2-1 win away at Wolves, while Hughes was given a 10th yellow card in the first half of their 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Reaching 10 yellow cards will mean both players will serve two-match suspensions.

Lukic's ban will keep him out of the trip to Brighton on 8 March and the London derby at home to Tottenham eight days later.

Hughes will miss the Premier League meeting at home to Ipswich Town on 8 March and the trip to Southampton on 2 April.

Ten Hag is not talking about social media criticism, he's talking about at the training ground. A coach is supposed to give you feedback to help you improve - the clue is in the job title - and if a player can't accept that feedback they're need to take a hard look at themselves. You train to get better. That means accepting coaching.

Manchester United winger Antony, who is on loan at Real Betis, has had his red card rescinded and is available to play against Real Madrid on Saturday.

He has four goal contributions in four La Liga appearances, having impressed since joining Betis in January following an unimpressive stint at Old Trafford.

Real Madrid will be without Kylian Mbappe for tonight's Copa del Rey semi-final first leg away at Real Sociedad.

Mbappe had a tooth extracted earlier this week and while it had been hoped the Frenchman would be available, pain caused from the surgery means he will miss out.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and midfielder Federico Valverde are being rested and are also not in the squad.

  19. Who is set to qualify for Europe?published at 11:17 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

Opta's League Prediction model estimates the likelihood of teams finishing in each position. The model estimates the probability of each match outcome (win, draw or loss) by using betting market odds and the Opta Power Rankings. The odds and rankings are based on historical and recent team performances.

It estimates that Liverpool are 100% certain to finish in the top four and Arsenal have a 99.8% chance.

They give Manchester City a 73.7% chance of qualifying for the Champions League for a 15th successive season - and that rises to 86.2% if a fifth spot is available.

Nottingham Forest are currently best placed after that - with a 40.6% chance of finishing in the top four - but it is then really tight between the other sides.

Brighton, Fulham and Villa - who have played a game more than most sides because of their Liverpool match being rescheduled - are each given less than 10% chances of reaching the top four or five.
