A good start for new head coach Neil Critchley would give everyone at Hearts a much needed boost ahead of a vital European match on Thursday.

St Mirren though will be tough to beat. Despite being on a really poor run of form by their own standards, they know that even a point today will be enough to ensure Hearts remain bottom of the table and give the home fans plenty to think about.

While Celtic have had a stranglehold on this fixture of late, the most recent meeting was a very close encounter and suggests we could be in for a cracker this afternoon.

Last season's Scottish Cup semi-final ended 3-3 after extra-time, with Celtic prevailing on penalties at Hampden.

Hibs need to get some points on the board again and sharpish. Problme is, they haven't won at Tannadice (or beaten Dundee Utd anywhere) since Boxing Day 2021.

Dundee United have big injury problems but have had a really solid start to the season, with three wins and a draw in their last five Premiership matches.

Motherwell have won six from their last seven games, and sit fourth. Dundee haven't won in the league since 10 August and have lost their last four matches.

The visitors, who haven't won at Fir Park since 2017, have lost 14 goals in their last six games and Motherwell will be hoping to take advantage.

However, the man they will have to beat is known well to home fans as former Fir Park favourite Trevor Carson returns.

The teams may be evenly matched across the first seven games but there is a yawning gulf when it comes to recent meetings.

The last three games at Celtic Park have gone the way of the hosts by 6-0, 5-0, and 4-0.

Celtic are unbeaten in 25 meetings with Aberdeen in all competitions (W20 D5) since a 1-0 home league defeat in May 2018.
