  2. Scotland aiming for more historypublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 10 June

More from Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who is confident they can progress from the group stages.

"We're all confident, that is the target for us going to the Euros," he tells Sky Sports.

"We know no Scotland team have ever qualified for the knockout stages and the manager has said to us we want to be a team to create history.

"We did that in the way we qualified for the tournament and who says we can't do it again by getting out of the group so that is our target for the tournament and we'll be going there to try and make sure we do that."

Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn tells Sky Sports: "As players it's our job to stay away from the build up to it.

"It's the opening game, against Germany the hosts of the tournament, and it's our job to let them have the pressure, go into it as a free hit and hopefully cause a big upset.

The Norwich City keeper has also been relishing working under Steve Clarke: "It shows what he's built over the last few years.

"In terms of building that group from where they were as a pot three, pot four team, to what we are now, a pot two team and in the Nations League top tier as well.

"It just shows what happens when you put your trust in a manager. I think he's really taken Scotland to the next level."

  5. Carver on injury fears, travelling fans & 'proper legend' Hansenpublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 10 June

Let's have a recap on the key points from Scotland assistant coach John Carver at today's media conference...

    • After captain Andy Robertson and Lawrence Shankland walked off during training, Carver allayed any injury fears: "Robertson is fine, it was a precaution", while Shankland is being protected after picking up a "niggle" against Finland.
    • In other fitness news, Stuart Armstrong will return to full training on Tuesday.
    • Carver says the camp is starting to "feel like home" and added it's important that the players soak up the local culture.
    • Carver stressed the importance of the travelling Scotland fans - "I hope they enjoy themselves. I hope we give them something to cheer about."
    • On Germany, Carver said: "It's a big challenge, but it's not something we fear. We go into the game with confidence. We want to stamp our authority on the game with how we play and do things."
    • Carver was also asked about Scotland legend Alan Hansen, who is "seriously ill", and paid tribute to the former Liverpool captain: "Everybody is really thinking about him and his family, it's a really difficult time. He was a fantastic defender but a ball-playing centre-half, one of the first I can remember. A proper legend of the game."
  6. 'Friday totally different to 1998 opener'published at 13:23 British Summer Time 10 June

    Darren Jackson
Former Scotland striker on Scottish Football Podcast

I was very, very lucky to play in the opening game against Brazil in the World Cup, but it's totally different to what the boys are going to have on Friday night because we played against the world champions, it wasn't the hosts.

So it was 80,000 people, there were probably 15,000 Scots, 15,000 Brazilians and then it was corporate.

They're going into an environment where it's 80,000 but there's probably going to be 60,000 Germans there.

So it's going to be a lot more hostile for them than it was for us at the time so that will make it a little bit harder.

We lost the goal after five minutes against the best team in the world and you thought to yourself, here we go.

But we got back into it and we were very, very unlucky to lose the game.

  7. get involved

New York, Wellington & Portlandpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 10 June

Here are more of your travel plans. Some of you are having to make quite the trip to get to Germany...

Eric: Flying in from Portland, Oregon. Meeting five old pals from Dumbarton in a rented van that's just gone overnight in a ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam then a quick drive to Munich.

Anonymous: Traveling from Wellington, New Zealand. Leave on Wednesday night and will fly via Singapore to Frankfurt. Close to 30 hours of travel. Hopefully have a bit of a sleep then train to Munich the morning of the game.

Selbs: Germany from Australia! A 12-hour bus journey to Adelaide airport, then Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul and eventually Dusseldorf.

Allyson: Flying from New York via Dublin to Munich, then using trains to move about Germany. When Kenny McLean scored in Norway I said "let's go" and splurged on a package.

David: Travelling from Perth, Australia on Tuesday to Munich for my first major tournament. I am 69 so it's never too late. Seventeen-hour flight but once I arrive be all worth it.

"I think the most important thing from a leader is that the players trust you and the players trust him.

"That is one of the biggest assets he's brought to the squad. I believe that players will work and run harder and faster if they're playing for someone they trust."

Scotland assistant coach John Carver says the camp is starting to "feel like home".

"It was fantastic," he adds. "We had a wonderful welcome form the mayor and now we want to make an impact.

"We saw a little bit of the culture last night and we've had the open day today and it was fantastic.

"It is very important you embrace the community and we've done that. We try to make it feel as much like home as we can, that's why we brought the weather with us.

"If you look at the surroundings, all the branding and making the place feel like it's our home."

  16. 'Real work starts tomorrow'published at 12:44 British Summer Time 10 June

"It's never nice [to see] especially with the luck we've had but he's in good form so he's fine."
