With the Champions League expanding to eight games, there is more juggling for managers to do.

Mikel Arteta might not be too happy to discover his side have tough trips to Tottenham and Manchester City either side of their opening first phase in September.

City have five away games out of seven immediately before their Champions League games.

There are also back-to-back Champions League and Europa League fixtures in January for the first time - City play Chelsea in the middle of those.

Think Crystal Palace could be dark horses this season. Kind early fixtures and a few individual stars to propel them forward.

Arsenal with Spurs and Man City away back-to-back is a bit nasty. I do think that this gives them the nicest run-in at the end of the season, though. Could it be their year?

It inevitably means some lengthy journeys.

Aston Villa have the longest Boxing Day trip - 200 miles to Newcastle.

  16. Protective maskspublished at 08:57 British Summer Time 18 June

We are assuming that Kylian Mbappe will choose to wear a mask for the rest of France's Euro 2024 fixtures, once he is given the green light to play.

Here are a few others players who opted to wear a protective mask after injury.

Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas wore a protective mask after he sustained a broken nose in 2015.

He received surgery to repair his broken nose and continued to wear the protective mask.

Tammy Abraham wore a protective mask in February 2023 while playing for Roma, after suffering an eye injury.

And Tottenham's Son Heung-min wore a mask throughout the 2022 World Cup after he suffered a fractured cheekbone playing for Spurs. At the time, the South Korea forward told Standard Sport that he was concerned he would struggle to see the ball while wearing a mask.
